Germantown wins their first championship behind the great play of Madison Booker
Germantown wins their first championship behind the great play of Madison Booker. They defeated Tupelo 64-43.
The first quarter was very tight between the two teams. However in the second Germantown found their groove. They were up 31-19 on Tupelo at halftime.
This game was getting good again after the first half. Tupelo had found themselves back within seven points. It was great energy from both sides. However, it started to shift again in Germantown’s favor. Madison Booker and her teammates had their stroke. They were up 48-30 on Tupelo at the end of the third.
“She (Madison Booker) has done so much, not only for our town, but the state of Mississippi with all of her accolades,” said Coach Jamie Glasgow. “I’m just glad we were able to get it done.”
Germantown all of a sudden found a way to take off again. Madison Booker was lights out today. She made a shot over Nadia Norfleet and signaled to the crowd that Norfleet was too little. She was on fire today, and her swag was on point. She was rocking the cradle and draining jumpers.
The fourth quarter didn’t see much of a change. Tupelo just couldn’t get anything going. Germantown would go on to win their first state title.
“It feels good to win the state title,” said Madison Booker. “We have come up short a lot and we finally got it done. It was the last thing to do and it’s a check off the list.”
