East Union Perfects Pisgah in Game 1 of MHSAA 2A State Championship Series
East Union (29-3) rolled to a 14-0 victory over Pisgah (27-5) in Game 1 of the MHSAA 2A state championship series on Wednesday night at Trustmark Park in Pearl.
The Urchins jumped out to a 2-0 first inning lead and broke the game open with 5 runs on 5 hits in the second.
East Union pitcher Landon Harmon threw a perfect game, striking out nine and walking none. He allowed no hits and no runs over five innings. It was the first perfect game in a state championship game since 2011.
Pisgah pitcher Lane Lewis struggled in the start, surrendering seven runs on eight hits over two innings. He struck out one and walked one. Colton Coleman threw two innings in relief, allowing seven runs on six hits.
East Union’s offense was led by Jude Treadaway, Ross Cochran, Rett Johnson, and Drew Hollimon, who each had multiple hits. Cochran led the way with five RBI.
Game 2 of the series will be played on Friday at Trustmark Park. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
