Dalton State beats Blue Mountain Christian in SSAC road game
Dalton, Ga. — The Blue Mountain Christian Toppers lost to Dalton State 103-68 in a Southern States Athletic Conference game Saturday afternoon. The Roadrunners imposed their pace from the start, forcing the Toppers into quick decisions and disrupting their offensive flow.
Dalton State opened the game with a balanced scoring attack and high-energy defense. The Roadrunners’ outside shooting, especially from beyond the arc, helped maintain a double-digit lead throughout the first half. The Toppers tried to slow the tempo but struggled to contain Dalton State’s transition scoring and second-chance opportunities.
After halftime, the Toppers increased their intensity. Esrael Yant scored 17 points, hitting three three-pointers and dishing three assists. Gavin Shannon contributed 13 points and seven rebounds, battling inside. Kam Carter facilitated the offense with 10 points and five assists, while Jonathan Baker added 10 points in the backcourt.
The Toppers shot 39.4% from the field and made eight three-pointers, but the Roadrunners responded each time Blue Mountain threatened to rally. Dalton State’s defensive pressure and timely baskets kept the lead out of reach. The Toppers will play Thomas on Thursday night in Blue Mountain.
