Northwest Mississippi Community College Adds David Kuhn as Assistant Softball Coach

Senatobia, Miss. — Northwest Mississippi Community College has announced the hiring of David Kuhn as an assistant softball coach for the 2026-27 season. The addition of Kuhn brings extensive coaching experience at the NJCAA and NCAA levels to the Rangers’ staff, according to Athletics Director Jake Gordon.

Kuhn has coached at the University of Central Arkansas, Delta State University, Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, and most recently at the University of the Ozarks. At UCA, he became the program’s winningest coach with 380 wins and led the Bears to nine consecutive conference championship tournaments, winning the title in 2015.

He recorded 368 wins at Delta State, guiding the Lady Statesmen to 10 straight conference tournaments and an NCAA Division II regional championship. His four seasons at Mississippi Gulf Coast included 131 wins, and at the University of the Ozarks, he improved the team from an 11-win season to a 25-21 record in his second year, the school said.

Head Coach Chelsea Bramlett expressed enthusiasm about Kuhn’s addition. “His experience not only in our league but at the four-year level adds to our program,” she said. “What he will bring to our team is indescribable and will elevate our softball program to the next level.”

Kuhn said he was drawn to Northwest because of its strong community support, facilities, and leadership. “It’s a great community college in a great area with great leadership,” he said. “There are no negatives.”

The coach noted his familiarity with Bramlett, whom he has followed since her days as a high school player, and his previous recruiting connections with some of her current players. “There are about four or five kids on the team I recruited at past schools,” he added.

Bramlett, who has more than 900 career wins, said she looks forward to working alongside Kuhn and learning from his experience. “This is a huge step for our team,” she said. “I am blessed to work with him and Coach E.”

The Rangers are coming off back-to-back trips to the NJCAA Division II World Series, with Bramlett having led the team to three appearances. She is entering her eighth season as head coach, with 199 wins at Northwest.

Kuhn emphasized that team success remains the priority. “My role is whatever Coach Bramlett tells me to do,” he said. “Our goal is to go back to the World Series and compete for a national championship.”

Northwest is currently in the middle of its fall schedule, with six days of games remaining through Oct. 31. More information, updates, and schedules are available at nwccrangers.com or on their social media accounts.
