BREAKING: MACJC to Begin Football Season to October
The MACJC will announce today that the commencement of football season will be moved to October according to a release from MACC.
The presidents of the Mississippi Association of Community Colleges (MACC) met today, July 24, 2020, and voted to delay the start of the 2020 fall football season to October 1. The 2020 football season will consist of a six-game regular season with divisional play only and will conclude with a playoff. The MACC will continue to evaluate COVID-19 and its impact on our student-athletes.
Along with the start in October, they are also expected to approve a six game division-only schedule for their member schools after already reducing the season to eight games.
This news comes on the heels of the NJCAA announcing a recommendation and move of sanctioned football action to the spring.
While every other conference immediately made plans to move their member schools’ seasons to spring, the MACJC stood firm that they would make the final decision on fall play, not the NJCAA.
it will remain to be seen if this will allow any MACJC member to compete for a NJCAA national championship if the opportunity arises this spring.
More information will be added as it is obtained by Mississippi Sports Network.
