William Carey lost 1-0 to Life University in the Southern States Athletic Conference women’s soccer championship Saturday at the Emory Folmar YMCA Complex in Montgomery, Alabama.
Life scored the match’s only goal in the 18th minute, taking advantage of a defensive miscue. The Running Eagles put four shots on goal in the first half, while William Carey had none on frame. Carey’s defense held Life to the one-goal lead through halftime.
The Lady Crusaders applied more pressure after the break and recorded four shots on goal, but Life’s defense kept them from finding an equalizer. Neither team created many clear chances in the second half.
William Carey is scheduled to compete in the first and second rounds of the NAIA National Championship at campus sites Nov. 19-21.
