Three Soccer Toppers named Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athletes

he National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced the 2022 Daktronics NAIA Men’s Soccer Scholar-Athletes with nearly 1,000 student-athletes recognized from 170 institutions.

Blue Mountain Christian University’s George Gonzalez-Ayala (SO/Calera, Ala.), Miguel Gonzalez-Vasquez (SR/Vardaman, Miss.) and Weston Williams (SO/Tupelo, Miss.) were named to the prestigious list.

To be nominated, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, must appear on the eligibility certificate for the sport and have attended one full year at said institution.

BMCU interim head coach John Morgan commented, “It’s just a testament to the amount of detail these guys put into their schoolwork.  I couldn’t be prouder of these three and what they’ve accomplished.”

St. Thomas (Fla.) and Morningside (Iowa) tied with 23 recipients each to lead the nation.
