Millsaps Cross Country Teams Set for SAA Championships

Millsaps’ men’s and women’s cross country teams are scheduled to race Saturday at the Southern Athletic Association championships, hosted by Sewanee at the Mountain Goat Course in Sewanee, Tennessee.

The women’s 6-kilometer race is listed for 10 a.m., with the men’s 8K scheduled for 11 a.m. FloCollege.com is set to stream both races, according to Millsaps. The source did not provide a year for the race date beyond identifying the meet as the 2026 championships.

Junior Greer Hernandez is among the men’s returning runners. He placed 26th at the 2025 conference championships in 26 minutes, 35 seconds. This season, Hernandez recorded a 5K personal best of 16:22.3 at the Mississippi 5K Opener on Sept. 4, then finished 14th in the Southern Showcase 8K in 26:15.6.

Sophomore Dallas Stricker set his 8K best of 26:55.1 at the Watson Collegiate Classic. He also finished 17th at the Mountain Goat Classic on Oct. 3 in 27:48.3. Sophomore Benjamin Sylve ran an 8K personal best of 27:46.3 at the Watson meet, while Mason Castleberry improved to 28:17.3 there.

Junior Phillip Antis competed in all four of the team’s meets this season, according to Millsaps. Among the freshmen, R.T. Tate, Ethan Hall, Jonathan Brister and Damaurien Graves each set personal bests at the Watson Collegiate XC Classic. Kameron Willson and Om Patel recorded their best 8K times at the Mountain Goat Open.

On the women’s team, junior Claudia Dempsey led or stayed near the front of the Millsaps pack in each of its four regular-season meets, the school said. She placed 33rd in the 6K Mountain Goat Open in 26:59.1. Freshmen Lila Jane Sekinger, Caitlyn Bounds, Marlina Jones and Myla Walker all set personal bests at the Watson Collegiate XC Classic.

Millsaps said five of its six women’s runners are expected to compete at the championships.
