Holland Williams leads Mississippi Christian in five-set volleyball victory

JACKSON, Tenn. — Holland Williams had a standout performance with 20 kills and five blocks as Mississippi Christian edged Union (Tenn.) 3-2 in a volleyball match Tuesday. The Choctaws lost the first two sets but rallied to win the next three, including a decisive fifth set.

In the opening set, Union (Tenn.) took a 25-23 victory after a late rally. Mississippi Christian responded in the third set, winning 25-21, with Williams contributing key kills and blocks to close out the set. The Blue and Gold then dominated the fourth set 25-16, pulling away with a strong service run from Fromdahl and multiple kills from Williams.

The final set was tightly contested until Mississippi Christian broke from a 4-4 tie with four consecutive points on Kipple’s serve. Williams added three kills in the set’s closing moments, sealing the victory with a 15-9 score. Williams finished with 22.5 points overall. Cydney Mitchell added 13 kills and 14.5 points, while Fromdahl led with 27 assists. Samarin Kipple recorded 15 digs, two aces, and five assists.

The Choctaws are scheduled to face UAH in Huntsville, Alabama, on Friday at 6 p.m., according to team officials.
