Bradley, Nixon earn Gulf South Conference weekly honors

Delta State safety Jordan Bradley and kicker Price Nixon earned Gulf South Conference weekly honors after the Statesmen beat Frostburg State 22-21, the conference announced Monday.

Bradley was named the GSC Defensive Player of the Week after recording four tackles and a career-best two interceptions. The redshirt junior helped lead a Delta State defense that did not allow a touchdown in the second half against the Bobcats.

Nixon received the GSC Special Teams Player of the Week award. The graduate kicker made field goals from 34 and 29 yards, then connected from 23 yards for the game winner in Delta State’s comeback victory.

Delta State has a week off before its scheduled home game against Valdosta State on Saturday, Nov. 14. The game is listed for 1 p.m. and is set to be Senior Day and the final Gulf South Conference Football Championship at Parker-McCool.
