Belhaven’s Carruth, Davidson earn C Spire athlete honors

Belhaven’s Cannon Carruth and Ashley Davidson have been named C Spire Athletes of the Week for performances from last Wednesday through Tuesday, the school announced.

Carruth, a junior from St. Francisville, Louisiana, had a career-high eight catches for 80 yards and scored the game-winning touchdown in Belhaven’s game at Methodist last weekend. The Blazers were scheduled to host LaGrange at noon Saturday for Senior Day, according to the announcement.

Davidson, a senior from Saucier, Mississippi, finished 16th at the CCS Cross Country Championships last weekend. She ran the 6K in a personal-best 25:49.2, shaving eight seconds off her previous best. Belhaven’s women finished third at the championship, which ended the team’s season.
