Xzayvion Childress Makes Impact in Mississippi Valley State Debut
ITTA BENA, Miss. — Mississippi Valley State University’s men’s basketball team fell to Florida A&M 62-48 on Monday at the R.W. Harrison HPER Complex. The game marked the second career appearance for transfer Xzayvion Childress, who made an immediate impact in his debut.
Childress, a Meridian Community College transfer, scored 14 points and added three assists in 32 minutes off the bench. He was the team’s top scorer and playmaker in the game, according to the school. His performance offered a glimpse of his potential for the Delta Devils, who are 1-19 overall and 0-6 in Southwestern Athletic Conference play.
Michael James tied Childress with 14 points and contributed five rebounds, three steals, and two assists. Daniel Mayfield added nine points, four steals, and one block. X’Zaevion Barnett led the team with seven rebounds and scored five points, while Tyrone Iroghama recorded a block and a rejection for the Delta Devils.
