Senatobia, Miss. — Recovery efforts from Winter Storm Fern continue across northern Mississippi, but not enough progress has been made to resume athletic activities at Northwest Mississippi Community College this weekend, officials said.
All athletic events scheduled for the weekend have been canceled or postponed. The college said future schedules depend on road conditions and ongoing recovery efforts.
On Friday, softball at the Sand Mountain Classic was canceled. The same applies to Saturday’s softball games. The baseball game against Columbia was postponed with no makeup date announced. The basketball games against Northeast were postponed until Feb. 14, with women’s tipoff at 2 p.m. and men’s at 4 p.m.
Additionally, tennis matches at Blue Mountain Christian were canceled. The college indicated that further changes could affect Monday’s scheduled games.
