BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Faith Washington and Paige Hubert of the Alabama State softball team earned weekly awards from the Southwestern Athletic Conference for their performances at the Music City Classic over the weekend, the conference announced Wednesday.
Washington was named Bowler of the Week after averaging 196.60 over five games and knocking down 983 pins. Hubert received the Newcomer of the Week honor after posting a 186.80 average and totaling 934 pins in the final regular-season tournament.
Their efforts helped Alabama State excel against a competitive field in Smyrna, Tennessee. The team secured a significant win over No. 8 Youngstown State during the traditional round of the tournament.
The Tigers are set to begin competition at the SWAC Championship on March 20 at the Bowling ITRC in Arlington, Texas.
