Warren Sets Conference Rebounding Record in Millsaps Win at Southwestern
GEORGETOWN, Texas — Elyse Warren of Millsaps College broke the conference rebounding record Friday, finishing her career with 1,075 rebounds and leading the Majors to a 75-68 victory over Southwestern University at the Corbin J. Robertson Center.
Warren scored 21 points and grabbed 17 rebounds in the game, helping Millsaps improve to 14-6 overall and 5-4 in the Southern Athletic Association. The Majors used strong interior play and a 46-34 edge in points in the paint to secure the win, despite 12 ties in the game.
Garin Freeman led Millsaps with 27 points and six rebounds, while Tia Anderson added 18 points, including two three-pointers, and contributed defensively with three steals. Warren’s milestone came in the first quarter when she secured her first rebound of the game, moving past the previous conference record.
The game featured fierce competition, with Southwestern’s bench outscoring Millsaps 17-4. The Pirates led briefly in the second quarter before Freeman tied the game at 35-35 at halftime. Millsaps maintained a narrow lead through the third and fourth quarters, with Freeman making crucial layups in the final minutes to help seal the victory.
