ULM Blanks Alcorn in Midweek Baseball Game
MONROE, La. — Louisiana-Monroe routed Alcorn 12-0 in a non-conference baseball game Wednesday at Lou St. Amant Field.
The Warhawks (5-5) scored early and often, with Bryce Blaser doubling in the first inning and stealing third before Jake Haggard’s sacrifice fly gave ULM an early lead. Haggard later added his second home run of the season, a three-run shot in the fourth inning, helping ULM extend its lead.
Jackson Landry capped the scoring with a grand slam in the sixth inning, finalizing the 12-0 victory. ULM starter Seaver Sheets earned his first decision of the season, pitching five innings, striking out two and allowing one hit. Seth Cooper finished the game with two scoreless innings.
Alcorn’s Devin Kriley started on the mound but lasted just an inning, allowing one run on one hit. The Braves used several relievers, including Yoni Castro and Myles Dews, but were unable to mount a comeback. Kriley fell to 0-3 on the season with the loss.
For ULM, Zach White went 3-for-4 with two runs and an RBI, while Davis Mauzy was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a run. Alcorn’s notable hitters included Chase Moore and Adrian Vallescorbo.
