ULM Beats Alcorn 4-1 in Softball Nonconference Game
Monroe, La. — Louisiana-Monroe defeated Alcorn 4-1 in a nonconference softball game Tuesday afternoon at ULM Softball Complex. Maddie Nichols pitched six innings, striking out seven and allowing just four hits and no walks. Bistin Bordeau closed the game with a perfect seventh inning for her first save of the season, retiring all five batters she faced, including two strikeouts.
The Warhawks (23-17) took the lead in the fourth inning on unearned runs caused by passed balls. ULM added insurance runs in the sixth, with Elle Carter hitting a triple to score Olivia Faggard, and Kennan Nunamaker driving in another run with a sacrifice fly. Carter and Thomas each finished with two hits for ULM, with Thomas also doubling in the second inning.
Alcorn (11-22) scored its only run in the fifth inning. Rajayla McBride singled and stole second, then scored on Olivia Miller’s double, with Miller going 2-for-3 at the plate. Chiara Olison took the loss for the Braves, falling to 7-12 after allowing two unearned runs over four innings. Reliever Alainah Felton surrendered two earned runs in two innings of relief.
