Tcheuhchoua Records Double-Double in Jackson State Loss to Texas Southern
Pierre-Noelle Tcheuhchoua posted a double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds to lead Texas Southern to a 60-46 victory over Jackson State on Thursday night at home. Tcheuhchoua also contributed seven offensive rebounds, helping the Tigers secure 18 total boards and 12 second-chance points.
Jackson State’s bench scored 23 points, but the Tigers struggled offensively overall. They shot only 31.6% from the field and managed just eight points in the paint. Despite a rebounding advantage of 43-39, Jackson State was unable to close the gap, falling to 3-13 overall and 1-3 in SWAC play.
Jackson State started slowly, trailing 12-5 early but closing the first quarter with a 5-0 run to cut the deficit to 12-10. Texas Southern responded, building a 23-15 lead before Jackson State made a late run to trail 23-20 at the end of the first quarter. The Tigers remained behind, facing a 36-24 deficit at halftime and a 46-32 disadvantage entering the fourth quarter.
Jackson State scored six points in the paint during the final period but was unable to rally, ending the game with a final score of 60-46. The Tigers knocked down two three-pointers in the fourth quarter, accounting for six of their 14 points.
In addition to Tcheuhchoua’s performance, Rhema Pegues added six points, six rebounds, and four assists, while Jaileyah Cotton contributed six points. Jackson State’s defense forced 17 turnovers and limited Texas Southern to a 31.6% shooting percentage.
