Southwest Mississippi Baseball Secures Two Walk-Off Wins Over Co-Lin and Hinds

Southwest Mississippi Baseball swept a three-game series at home on Wednesday, defeating Hinds Community College 11-10 and Co-Lin 10-9. The Bears improved to 13-3 with the wins, according to team sources.

In the opener against Hinds, Andrew Hoff started on the mound and earned the win after pitching three innings with one strikeout. Wyatt Garrett, Konnor Cazenave, and Brian Hankinson also pitched, combining for six strikeouts over the final six innings. Nik Carney recorded the save with two strikeouts in the ninth.

Hinds took an early 3-0 lead after two innings before Southwest responded with a five-run third inning. Tanner Moore led off with a double, then scored on a groundout by Justin Domiano. The Bears added four more runs in the fifth, highlighted by Tristain Haynes’ first career home run, a three-run shot to left field. The team finished with 15 hits, led by Moore, Drew Swan, and Luke Simmons, each with three hits.

The Bears faced Co-Lin in a 10-inning game, winning 10-9. Matt Newman started on the mound, striking out three over four innings. Dom Smith pitched 4.1 innings, striking out five. Rhyson Carroway earned the win with two strikeouts in the tenth inning.

Southwest fell behind early, trailing 3-9 after five innings. The team rallied, with Justin Domiano hitting a triple and driving in four RBIs. The Bears tied the game at nine in the eighth inning with a three-run rally. Domiano’s walk-off run came in the tenth after a passed ball, sealing the victory.

Head coach Jack Edmonson praised his team’s resilience, stating, “I’m very proud of our toughness our guys showed all day long. We played two quality opponents and were able to leave with two wins. Several players stepped up and made big plays in big moments.” The Bears are set to host College of DuPage and Southeastern Community College this weekend.
