Southern Miss Women’s Tennis Sweeps Final Two Matches of Homestand
HATTIESBURG, Miss. — The University of Southern Mississippi women’s tennis team finished its three-match homestand with consecutive 4-0 wins, bouncing back from an earlier loss to McNeese State.
Southern Miss opened the stretch Friday with a 4-0 defeat against McNeese, after losing the doubles point. Despite the setback, the Golden Eagles showed fight in singles, with Miranda Xu delivering a key victory that kept the team competitive throughout the match.
On Sunday, the team responded with a stronger performance, sweeping Florida A&M 4-0. The Golden Eagles secured the doubles point early and maintained momentum through singles to finish the match confidently.
The winning streak continued Tuesday, as Southern Miss defeated Alcorn State 4-0. The team again dominated in doubles and followed with singles wins across the lineup to close the match cleanly.
Southern Miss now prepares for its next match against Norfolk State on Feb. 28 in Hattiesburg, with a 10 a.m. start time. The team aims to carry its recent momentum into the upcoming contest.
