Southern Miss Women’s Tennis Splits Weekend Home Matches
HATTIESBURG, Miss. — Southern Miss women’s tennis posted a split record over the weekend, winning 4-2 against Norfolk State on Friday before losing 4-0 to Kennesaw State on Saturday, according to school sources.
In Friday’s match, the Golden Eagles grabbed the doubles point with wins from Angelina Blinova and Sakura Sudo, as well as Miranda Xu and Kamornwan Kornsila. That early lead helped Southern Miss stay ahead throughout the match. Blinova and Sudo each secured singles victories, with Kornsila clinching the win for the team.
The following day, Kennesaw State responded with a dominant performance, taking two doubles matches to lead 1-0. Despite battling in singles, Southern Miss was unable to secure a point, and the Owls completed the sweep with a 4-0 victory.
With the weekend split, Southern Miss continues to build experience at home as the spring schedule advances. The team’s next match is against Georgia Southern on March 7 at 10 a.m., at the USM Tennis Complex.
