Southern Miss Women’s Tennis Hosts McNeese to Start Three-Match Home Streak

HATTIESBURG, Miss. — Southern Miss women’s tennis (2-1) will play three consecutive home matches at the USM Tennis Complex this week. The Golden Eagles host McNeese (8-1) on Friday at 2 p.m., followed by Florida A&M (1-5) on Sunday at noon and Alcorn State (3-8) on Tuesday at 2 p.m., according to school officials.

Southern Miss opened the spring season with three matches in four days. The team has been effective in doubles, securing the doubles point in each of its first three matches and using early momentum to set the tone for the rest of each contest, coaches said. The Golden Eagles also demonstrated resilience in tight situations, closing out matches in singles during their opening homestand.

The upcoming stretch will test the team’s consistency, as the Golden Eagles look to sustain their performance through three matches in five days. They aim to continue building on their momentum and improve in both doubles and singles play, according to head coach Piyanart Engineer.

Southern Miss’s full roster will be available for the week, including players like Hannah Chambers, Gagana Mohan Kumar, Sakura Sudo, Miranda Xu, Kamornwan Kornsila, Pimmada Lim, Mia Hasashi-Morrissey, Celine Mosteanu, Manuella Persson, and Angelina Blinova. Assistant coach Abhijeet Tiwari is also part of the staff.
