Southern Miss Women’s Tennis Ends Regular Season with Two Road Matches
The University of Southern Mississippi women’s tennis team will play its final regular-season matches on the road this weekend, facing UAB on Friday and Nicholls on Sunday.
The Golden Eagles (8-7, 1-2 Sun Belt Conference) are coming off a 4-3 victory over Tulane on Tuesday, their first win over the Green Wave in program history. The win marked a strong finish at the USM Tennis Complex and gave the team confidence heading into the final stretch of the season.
Friday’s match against UAB is scheduled for 3 p.m. in Birmingham. UAB (8-11) has faced a challenging spring schedule and will host Southern Miss in its last home match before the conference tournament. The Golden Eagles see this as an opportunity to build on their recent momentum against a team that is also preparing for postseason play.
Sunday’s match at Nicholls (4-11, 0-7 Southland Conference) begins at 2 p.m. in Thibodaux. The Colonels, who defeated Southern Miss earlier this month, will be looking to close their season with a win as they host Tulane on Saturday before facing the Golden Eagles.
Southern Miss will travel with a roster including Hannah Chambers, Gagana Mohan Kumar, Sakura Sudo, Miranda Xu, Kamornwan Kornsila, Pimmada Lim, Angelina Blinova and Manuella Persson. The team hopes to sharpen its skills before the Sun Belt Conference Championships later this month.
These matches provide the Golden Eagles with critical preparation as they seek to improve their postseason standings and performance.
