Southern Miss Women’s Golf Set for Magnolia Collegiate in Mobile
The University of Southern Mississippi women’s golf team is participating in the Magnolia Collegiate on Monday and Tuesday at the Robert Trent Jones Magnolia Grove Crossings Course in Mobile, Alabama, according to school officials.
The event includes a 13-team field featuring South Alabama, James Madison, Navy, Stetson, Central Arkansas, Missouri State, West Georgia, Seminole State, North Alabama, Texas-Arlington, Lipscomb, New Haven, and Southern Miss. The course measures 6,204 yards and is played at a par-71.
The Crossings Course has hosted both LPGA Tour and Korn Ferry Tour events. Its open, parkland layout features water hazards and crushed oyster shell waste areas, with all holes sporting Mini Verde Ultradwarf greens, according to organizers.
Southern Miss will send a lineup that includes Louise Cuyvers, Fernanda Gorostiaga, Savannah Van Gaalen, Taylor Trible, and Liv Romer. Tee times start at 8:30 a.m., with players beginning on holes 1 and 2.
The Golden Eagles opened their spring season with a second-place finish at the Great River Cup and placed sixth at the More Than Golf Invitational in Aiken, South Carolina. Cuyvers leads the team with a 73.2 average strokes per round and has recorded nine rounds of par or better. Trible, who won The Judson tournament last October, also posted a top-three finish at that event.
Romer, a newcomer, tied for fifth at The Judson with a 71 in all three rounds. Van Gaalen secured the victory in a playoff at The Judson and finished seventh at the Lady Clerico. Fans can follow updates on social media at @SouthernMissWG.
