Southern Miss Women’s Golf Finishes Second at Great River Cup

The University of Southern Mississippi women’s golf team finished as runner-up at the Great River Cup held at Windance Country Club in Gulfport, Mississippi. The Golden Eagles fell 3-2 to ULM in the championship match, according to team reports.

Junior Liv Romer went 3-0 during the tournament, securing her wins with a three-hole lead against Tessa Ion. Romer recorded one birdie and two bogeys in her final match. Taylor Trible also contributed a win, defeating Anna Andrysova 1 up after birdies on holes five and the final hole.

Louise Cuyvers lost 3 and 2 to Daniella Campillo Martinez, who eagled the third hole and added three birdies late. Savannah Van Gaalen narrowly missed tying her match, finishing even par on the final hole, with Emma Lucrezia Meznini securing the point for ULM.

In other matches, Johanna Sjursen defeated Fernanda Gorostiaga 2 up, and Alma Betoret won her individual match 8 and 7 over Mackenzie Cloutier. Morgan Guepet settled for a tie against ULM’s Isabel Mas Pitarch.

The team now prepares for the More Than Golf Invitational, set for March 1-3 at Old Barnwell Golf Course in Aiken, South Carolina, according to team officials. Follow @SouthernMissWG on social media for updates.
