Southern Miss Tennis Player Kale Mize Earns First Sun Belt Weekly Honor

Kale Mize of the University of Southern Mississippi men’s tennis team has been named the Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week, marking the first time a player from the program has received the honor, according to the school.

Mize’s strong weekend helped the Golden Eagles secure wins over New Orleans and Norfolk State. He posted a 4-0 record across singles and doubles matches, including two wins in each category.

On Feb. 27, Mize partnered in doubles for a 6-2 victory over New Orleans before winning singles matches 6-2, 6-2. The following day, he contributed a 6-3 doubles win and closed out the weekend with singles victories of 6-4, 6-4.

His performances helped maintain Southern Miss’s undefeated streak for the weekend and continued the team’s momentum during the spring season. Mize’s consistent play at the top of the lineup has made him a key leader for the team, which has shown steady growth this spring.

The conference award highlights Mize’s emerging role as a standout player for the Golden Eagles, who are seeking to build on their success this season.
