Southern Miss Men’s Tennis to Face No. 6 LSU in Baton Rouge
HATTIESBURG, Miss. — Southern Miss men’s tennis (5-4) will compete against No. 6 LSU (15-2) on Sunday at the LSU Tennis Complex in Baton Rouge. The Golden Eagles are coming off back-to-back home wins over New Orleans and Norfolk State, which helped improve their record this season, according to school officials.
The matchup against LSU is the only contest scheduled for the day after their original game against Southern University was canceled. LSU, ranked sixth nationally, recently defeated No. 2 Texas 4-3 in Austin, maintaining strong form early in the spring season. LSU will also host Tennessee earlier in the day as part of a doubleheader.
LSU’s roster features experienced players and has been dominant, capturing the doubles point in every match through mid-February. Southern Miss will need to be sharp in doubles to challenge the Tigers, who have carried momentum into their spring schedule, according to team sources.
The Golden Eagles will field a travel roster including Eric Perkowski, Saheb Sodhi, Olle Noltorp, Ritabrata Sarkar, Jay Temming, Kale Mize, Jose Murariu, Matei Varbanciu, and Rasmus Becker. Zubin Engineer is coaching the team, with Nicolas Simkin on staff.
LSU holds an 8-0 record all-time against Southern Miss, including a 7-0 win in their most recent meeting on March 9, 2025, in Baton Rouge. The match is scheduled to start at 5 p.m. local time.
