Southern Miss Men’s Tennis Hosts Omaha for Senior Day
HATTIESBURG, Miss. — The University of Southern Mississippi men’s tennis team hosts Omaha on Friday at 2 p.m. in Hattiesburg, marking Senior Day for two of its players. The match follows a road trip to Baton Rouge, where the Golden Eagles faced No. 6 LSU.
Southern Miss enters the weekend after a tough match against LSU, with Saheb Sodhi earning a three-set singles victory at the No. 3 position. The team hopes to return to its home courts before traveling again next week for matches against Incarnate Word and Texas-San Antonio.
Omaha arrives in Hattiesburg as part of a weekend swing through the South. The Mavericks will also play road matches at New Orleans and Nicholls State later in the trip.
The Friday match will honor seniors Sodhi and Eric Perkowski. Sodhi has been a key contributor, with seven singles wins and eight doubles victories as a freshman. He has continued to make an impact this season, including recent wins against New Orleans, Norfolk State, Alcorn State, and LSU.
Perkowski, a graduate transfer from Dayton, has provided veteran leadership and consistency. He has played a vital role in strengthening the doubles lineup and has made an immediate impact during his first season with the team.
The Southern Miss roster features Sodhi, Perkowski, Olle Noltorp, Ritabrata Sarkar, Jay Temming, Kale Mize, Jose Murariu, Matei Varbanciu, and Rasmus Becker. Zubin Engineer is the program’s head coach, with Nicolas Simkin on staff. First serve is scheduled for 2 p.m. in Hattiesburg.
