Southern Miss Men’s Basketball Hosts Old Dominion in Home Finale

The University of Southern Mississippi men’s basketball team will face Old Dominion on Saturday at Reed Green Coliseum in Hattiesburg. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. Central Time. The game will be streamed on ESPN+ and broadcast on the Southern Miss Radio Network, with John Cox calling the action.

Southern Miss enters the game with a 14-14 record overall and a 7-8 mark in Sun Belt play. The Monarchs are 10-18 overall and 6-9 in the conference. This will be the 18th meeting between the two programs, with Old Dominion holding a 13-4 series advantage. The Monarchs have won three of the last five matchups, including two of the last three in Hattiesburg.

Six seniors will be honored during senior day ceremonies prior to tip-off. Among notable players, Tylik Weeks has moved into fourth place all-time in single-season free throws made, with 165. He scored 32 points against Troy earlier this month, including 30 in the second half. Djahi Binet was named the Sun Belt Player of the Week on Feb. 10 after averaging 24 points and 11 rebounds in recent games.

Southern Miss has performed well at home this season, posting a 44-12 record at Reed Green Coliseum since 2022. The team also boasts a season-high 27 free throws made in an upset victory over Radford earlier this season. The Golden Eagles are seeking their first win over Old Dominion since 2024, when they defeated the Monarchs 78-73.

Old Dominion is coming off an 83-72 win over Louisiana and is led in scoring by Ketron Shaw, who averages 17 points per game. The Monarchs rank among the top five in the Sun Belt in assist-to-turnover ratio, defensive rebounds, scoring offense, three-point defense, and turnovers per game, according to conference stats.

Southern Miss’s season has included a strong non-conference schedule with notable road games against South Carolina, LSU, and Ole Miss.
