Southern Miss Baseball to Host Southeastern Louisiana in Season Finale at Pete Taylor Park
The University of Southern Mississippi baseball team will close out a four-game homestand Tuesday evening with a matchup against Southeastern Louisiana at Pete Taylor Park. The game is scheduled for 6 p.m. Central Time and will be available on ESPN+, with radio coverage through the Southern Miss Sports Network and live stats on SouthernMiss.com, according to university athletics.
The Golden Eagles, ranked No. 8 by D1Baseball.com, hold a 21-7 record. They recently split a series with Appalachian State, winning two of three games. Kyle Morrison led the offense with two home runs in the series finale, boosting his team-high batting average to .347 and tallying 10 home runs and 28 RBIs.
Southern Miss and Southeastern Louisiana have met twice this season, with the Golden Eagles winning both contests. The most recent victory was a 3-1 decision in Hammond last month, where Southern Miss scored twice in the ninth inning. Joey Urban and Matthew Russo contributed RBI singles in that game, which featured eight pitchers limiting the Lions to four hits and 12 strikeouts.
The upcoming game marks the second meeting of the season between the teams. Southeastern Louisiana enters with a 16-12 record after sweeping New Orleans over the weekend. The Lions are led by junior right-hander Luke Lirette, who is 1-1 with a 4.38 ERA. Senior Kros Sivley will start for the Golden Eagles, bringing a 3-1 record and a 3.86 ERA into his 88th career appearance.
Following Tuesday’s game, Southern Miss will travel to Norfolk, Virginia, to face Old Dominion in a three-game series starting Thursday. The first pitch is set for 5 p.m. CT.
