Southeastern Louisiana shuts out Jackson State 9-0

Southeastern Louisiana pitchers Hallie Burns, Celia Lamkin, and Tyler Oubre combined to pitch a shutout against Jackson State in a non-conference game Tuesday in Hammond, Louisiana. The Lions won 9-0.

Jorgina Gant took the loss for Jackson State, allowing five runs on 24 batters faced. The Tigers’ offense was limited to three hits, with Ka’Liyah Gipson going 1-for-2 at the plate.

Jackson State did not have a runner reach beyond second base and went 0-for-2 with runners in scoring position. Their last scoring threat was in the second inning when Aaliysah Gomez advanced to second with one out.

Offensively, Southeastern Louisiana was led by senior Cydnee Schneider, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBIs. Burns pitched three scoreless innings to lead the Lions’ pitching staff.

The Tigers will host Bethune-Cookman on Friday to open a weekend series at the JSU Softball Field. First pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m.
