South Carolina women’s basketball beats Ole Miss 85-48 in Columbia
South Carolina’s women’s basketball team defeated Ole Miss 85-48 Sunday at Colonial Life Arena in Columbia. The Gamecocks, ranked No. 3/3, improved their record to 27-2 overall and 13-1 in SEC play.
Ole Miss, ranked No. 17/17, dropped to 21-8 and 8-6 in conference. Christeen Iwuala led the Rebels with 12 points and 10 rebounds, earning her 11th double-double of the season. Latasha Lattimore added three blocks, tying her season high, according to team sources.
The Rebels kept the game close early, with Lattimore scoring eight points in the first quarter. She made her first four shots, helping Ole Miss stay within four points at the start of the second quarter. Iwuala also started strong, making her first four shots and finishing the half with 10 points.
South Carolina took a 41-25 lead into halftime and extended its advantage in the second half. The Gamecocks outshot Ole Miss from the field, converting 49.3% compared to the Rebels’ 26.5%, according to team stats. South Carolina also made 46.2% of its three-point attempts, while Ole Miss shot 17.6% from beyond the arc.
