Parnov Ties Program Record at Day One of SEC Indoor Championships

COLLEGE STATION, Texas — Mississippi State track and field opened the SEC Indoor Championships with two scoring performances Thursday. The meet is taking place at Texas A&M.

Senior Alla Parnov made her SEC debut and scored points for the Bulldogs by finishing sixth in the women’s pole vault. She cleared a season-best height of 4.15 meters, tying the program record, and earning three points for the team.

In the men’s heptathlon, Sacha Rifflart also made his SEC debut. He posted three personal bests in the first four events, ending the day in third place with 3,040 points. Rifflart will compete in the final three events Friday, starting with the 60-meter hurdles.

The women’s distance medley relay team closed the day by winning their section. The relay team, comprised of Gabrielle Boulay, De’Kayla Simpson, Mallory Streetman and Nelly Jemeli, finished with a time of 11 minutes, 13.83 seconds. This marks the fifth-fastest time in program history and contributed to the Bulldogs’ eighth-place overall finish for the event.
