Owls’ Huguley earns All-Region honors, sets school records

COLumbus, Miss. — Mississippi University for Women standout Tray Huguley has earned a pair of NCAA Division III All-Region honors from both D3Hoops.com and the National Association of Basketball Coaches, according to school officials. The sophomore forward was named second team all-region on both lists.

Huguley is the first player in MUW men’s basketball history to receive all-region recognition from either organization, the school said. He played a key role in the Owls winning their first St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championship and earning an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III tournament.

The team set a school record with 17 wins and ranks No. 1 nationally in field goal percentage at 51.9%. Huguley averaged a double-double with 22.7 points and 11.7 rebounds over 26 games. He shot 63.9% from the field and 73.7% from the free-throw line.

Huguley also averaged 2.7 assists, one steal, and 1.6 blocks per game. He recorded 18 double-doubles and scored in double digits in all 26 games, including 18 games of 20 or more points. His season highlight was a school-record 51-point performance against Greenville University on Dec. 6, 2025, setting marks for field goals made (21) and attempted (29) in that game.

He also set the school’s single-game rebound record with 22 boards versus Southeastern Baptist College on Jan. 13, 2026. Huguley broke multiple MUW records for points (591), points per game (22.7), field goals made (250), field goals attempted (391), field goal percentage (63.9%), total rebounds (304), rebounds per game (11.7), and double-doubles (18).

The player was named the SLIAC Player of the Year and earned first-team All-Conference honors. He was also voted the conference’s Player of the Week six times during the season, an unprecedented achievement.

MUW head coach Dean Burrows praised Huguley’s work ethic and dominance this season. “As has been the case all season long, we are proud of these honors that Tray has brought to himself, his family, his teammates, and our program,” Burrows said. “Everything that Tray has earned has come as a result of the work he has put in, both on the court and through film study outside of team sessions.”

Burrows added that Huguley has the potential to improve further if he maintains a growth mindset. Huguley transferred from Shelton State Community College, where he played 28 games and made two starts in the 2024-25 season. He is a business administration major, planning to complete his master’s degree before pursuing a coaching career. The student-athlete was also a member of MUW’s Fall 2025 Athletic Director’s Honor Roll.
