COTIE MCMAHON OF Ole Miss women’s basketball has been named the 2026 SEC Newcomer of the Year and a First Team All-SEC honoree, the conference announced Tuesday, marking her third consecutive postseason conference honor.

McMahon, a senior, previously earned All-Big Ten First Team recognition in each of the past two seasons and was the Big Ten Freshman of the Year in 2023. She is the first Ole Miss player to be named First Team All-SEC since Madison Scott and Marquesha Davis in 2024 and the first Rebel to win the SEC Newcomer of the Year award, which has only been recognized for two seasons.

During her first and only season at Ole Miss, McMahon has been a key offensive contributor. She has been named SEC Player of the Week three times in conference play. She averages 21.0 points per game in SEC games, ranking second in the league, along with 5.4 rebounds and 3.6 assists per contest.

Overall, McMahon holds season averages of 19.9 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 2.9 assists, shooting 45.3 percent from the field. She has been named to 15 awards watch lists, including the Naismith Trophy, Wooden Award, and Cheryl Miller Award finalists. She started every game for Ole Miss, recording 17 games of at least 20 points, tying for the third most in a season by a Rebel and the most since 2009-10.

McMahon reached the 600-point mark in the regular season finale, becoming the seventh Rebel to do so and the first since 2009-10, finishing with 615 points. The league’s postseason awards were selected by its 16 coaches, excluding votes for their own players or teams. The complete list of awards includes honors for players, coaches, and teams across various categories.
