Ole Miss Women’s Tennis to Host Mississippi State and Alabama for Final Home SEC Matches
Ole Miss women’s tennis will host Mississippi State and Alabama for its final home SEC matches of the season, the university announced Tuesday. The Rebels (9-9, 3-8 SEC) are looking to rebound after recent losses to Texas A&M and Texas.
The first match will be against Mississippi State on Thursday, April 2, at 4 p.m. The Bulldogs (15-8, 3-8 SEC) have defeated Kentucky, Missouri, and Arkansas this season and secured a win over Georgia Tech in non-conference play. Ole Miss has won the last seven meetings against Mississippi State, with the last loss in 2017, according to school officials.
Following that, Ole Miss will face Alabama on Saturday, April 4, at 10 a.m. The Crimson Tide (12-7, 4-7 SEC) has notable wins over SEC rivals such as Mississippi State, Kentucky, Missouri, and Arkansas. The last time Alabama visited Oxford in 2024, Ole Miss won 5-2, the university added.
Ole Miss’s roster features standout players including Emily Welker, ranked No. 6 in ITA singles, and doubles team Andrea Nova and Welker, ranked No. 9 nationally. The team is seeking to improve its SEC standing in its final home matches of the season, according to the university’s athletic department.
