Ole Miss Women’s Tennis to Face Top-25 Teams Auburn and Florida at Home

Ole Miss women’s tennis will play two highly ranked teams on its home courts this week. The No. 30 Rebels face No. 5 Auburn on Thursday and No. 23 Florida on Saturday, according to the university’s athletics department.

The Rebels are coming off a tough road trip, where they lost matches against No. 1 Georgia and No. 11 South Carolina. The match against South Carolina was close, ending 4-3 in favor of the Gamecocks, with Ole Miss narrowly missing a victory.

Thursday’s match against Auburn will be held at 4 p.m. at the Palmer Salloum Outdoor Tennis Center. Auburn boasts a 19-1 record and is undefeated in SEC play at 3-0. The Tigers reached the semifinals of the ITA Team Indoor Championships and have wins over several ranked opponents this season.

Following that, Ole Miss will host Florida on Saturday at 1 p.m. The Gators are 7-2 overall and 2-1 in SEC play. They defeated Ole Miss earlier this season in Raleigh, North Carolina, with a 4-2 score. Florida has six ranked singles players and one doubles pair ranked nationally.

Ole Miss’s roster features a mix of returning players and newcomers. Freshman Riley Crowder, the top recruit out of Alabama, and Mississippi native Owen Wilkinson are among the new faces. The team also includes experienced players like Andrea Nova and Emily Welker, who reached the NCAA singles semifinals last fall.

The Rebels are looking to improve their standing in the SEC and nationally. With a record of 6-3, Ole Miss aims to challenge top-ranked teams and demonstrate its growth in the conference and beyond.
