Ole Miss Women’s Tennis Match Against Illinois Canceled Due to Winter Storm

The University of Mississippi has canceled its upcoming women’s tennis match against Illinois, originally scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 1. The university cited winter storm conditions impacting local electrical power and transportation as the reason for the cancellation, according to an Ole Miss athletics spokesperson.

The match will not be rescheduled, the university added. Ole Miss officials did not specify if the cancellation will impact the team’s overall schedule or upcoming matches.

Ole Miss women’s tennis players and staff are continuing preparations for the rest of the season. Fans can follow the team on social media for updates and news, including Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram at @OleMissWTennis. Coach Grant Roberts also maintains a Twitter account at @gdrob91.

The Rebels are currently competing in a busy spring schedule, with upcoming matches against teams like South Carolina, Auburn, Florida, and others. The team recently participated in the ITA Kickoff Weekend and other tournaments, but the Illinois match was the only scheduled contest canceled due to weather this week.

Ole Miss has yet to specify if the cancellation will lead to rescheduling plans or adjustments in their season schedule, which remains ongoing through April.
