Ole Miss Women’s Tennis Falls to No. 19 Tennessee, 4-1

Knoxville, Tenn. — The Ole Miss women’s tennis team, ranked 38th nationally, fell to No. 19 Tennessee 4-1 Thursday at the Dr. Robert L. Barksdale Tennis Stadium.

Despite the loss, Riley Crowder earned her 15th dual singles victory and her first against a top-ranked opponent, defeating Tennessee’s Catherine Aulia 6-4, 6-3. In doubles, Tennessee secured the early point with victories on courts two and three.

In singles play, the Volunteers extended their lead after winning courts one, two, and five. Ole Miss got on the scoreboard when Crowder defeated Aulia. Tennessee clinched the match on court three with Vanesa Suarez leading her unfinished match against Andrea Nova.

The Rebels, now 13-10 overall and 5-9 in SEC play, will finish their regular season on the road Saturday at Kentucky. The match is scheduled for 12 p.m. CT at the Hilary J. Boone Tennis Complex.

Results from the match included singles victories by Katrina Scott and Leyla Britez Risso for Tennessee and Crowder’s win for Ole Miss. Doubles matches were unfinished on courts one, two, and three.
