Ole Miss Women’s Golf Heads to Moon Invitational in Strong Field

The University of Mississippi women’s golf team, ranked No. 14 nationally, is set to compete at the Moon Golf Invitational from Feb. 15-17 at Suntree Country Club in Melbourne, Florida. The event features 17 teams, including 12 ranked inside the top 25, making it one of the most competitive fields of the season.

Ole Miss enters the tournament following a second-place finish at the Puerto Rico Classic. The Rebels have previously finished in the top five three times at the Moon Invitational, including a team victory in 2020. The three-round event will have 18-hole rounds on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday.

The Rebels’ lineup is led by Kajsalotta Svarvar, who has posted a team-best 70.29 scoring average this season and recorded a career-low 54-hole score of 203 (-10) at the Cougar Classic. Sophomore Mary Miller, who finished T13 at Puerto Rico, and junior Sophie Linder, with six rounds under-par this season, are also key contributors. Freshman Matilda Björkman and senior Nicole Gal round out the core, with Björkman making an immediate impact after a T3 debut at the Boilermaker Classic.

Ole Miss has enjoyed success this fall, capturing two tournament wins, including back-to-back victories at the Cougar Classic. The team has finished fourth or better in every event this season under head coach Kory Henkes. The Rebels return 75% of their roster, emphasizing their depth heading into the spring season.

The Moon Invitational field includes notable programs such as Alabama, Auburn, Duke, Florida, Florida State, LSU, Louisville, Mississippi State, NC State, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M, UCF, Virginia, and Wake Forest. Ole Miss aims to continue its strong performance and contend for the title against this elite competition.
