Ole Miss Women’s Basketball Signs Maya Anderson to 2026-27 Roster
Ole Miss women’s basketball announced the signing of Maya Anderson, a transfer from San Jose State, for the 2025-26 season. Head coach Yolett McPhee-McCuin described Anderson as a “hidden gem” and praised her toughness and physicality, which she said will help her transition to the Southeastern Conference.
Anderson started all 32 games for San Jose State during the 2025-26 season, leading the team in scoring with 13.9 points per game, along with 6.7 rebounds and 1.4 steals per game, according to the university. The Toronto native redshirted the 2024-25 season but made 17 starts as a true freshman, averaging 5.4 points and shooting 63.3% from the free-throw line.
Her standout performances include a career-high 29 points against Sacramento State and 15 rebounds in the regular-season finale against Colorado State. In high school, Anderson earned five MVP awards, including the 2022 Conference Championship MVP, and led Crestwood Preparatory College to the Ontario Scholastic Basketball Association State Championship in 2023. She also participated in the Biosteel All-Canadian Game during her junior and senior years.
Anderson joins Talaysia Cooper and Emily Howard as the third transfer addition to Ole Miss’s roster for 2026-27, which also features returnees Desrae Kyles, Lauren Jacobs, and Sira Thienou. The program currently has six student-athletes committed for the upcoming season, with more signings expected.
Ole Miss encourages fans to purchase season tickets for the 2026-27 campaign, as the team continues its streak of NCAA tournament appearances and aims to improve its standing.
