Ole Miss Softball Sweeps Jacksonville State and ULM at Ole Miss Classic

The University of Mississippi softball team posted a double victory Saturday at the Ole Miss Classic, defeating Jacksonville State 4-1 and ULM 7-1 at the Ole Miss Softball Stadium in Oxford, Mississippi.

In the first game, Emilee Boyer pitched effectively, striking out five and keeping Jacksonville State hitless through four innings. Madi George opened the scoring with a solo home run in the fourth inning. The Gamecocks tied the game in the fifth on a passed ball, but Mackenzie Pickens responded with a two-run homer to give Ole Miss a 3-1 lead. The Rebels added an insurance run in the sixth, aided by a double steal that scored Persy Llamas, and held on for the victory.

In the nightcap, Ole Miss used strong pitching from Kyra Aycock and Lilly Whitten to secure the win. Aycock struck out five over five innings, allowing just five hits. The Rebels scored early, with Taylor Roman and Rachel Connors earning RBIs in the fourth inning. Mackenzie Pickens added a two-RBI single, and Madi George hit her team-leading seventh home run of the season, extending the lead to 7-0. ULM scored a run in the fifth, but Ole Miss closed out the game with Whitten pitching two hitless innings to secure the win.

The Rebels improved to 15-5 overall and remain undefeated in the Ole Miss Classic. They are scheduled to face ULM again Sunday at 1 p.m. Central Time, with the game available via SEC Network Plus. Ole Miss will continue its schedule with upcoming games against Texas, Alabama, and Oklahoma.
