Ole Miss Softball Ranked No. 22 in ESPN/USA Softball Preseason Poll

The University of Mississippi softball team has been ranked No. 22 in the ESPN/USA Softball preseason poll, marking the highest ranking in program history. The Rebels are also ranked No. 24 in D1Softball and No. 25 in Softball America’s preseason rankings, according to Ole Miss athletics.

This marks the third of four major preseason polls in which Ole Miss appears. The team’s highest ranking was previously No. 21 in the 2020 season, according to USA Today/NFCA. The Rebels return several key players from last season’s run to the Women’s College World Series, including All-SEC sophomore Persy Llamas, NFCA All-South Region sophomore Mackenzie Pickens, and seniors Taylor Malvin and Taylor Roman.

The team features 16 newcomers, including 10 transfers and six freshmen, adding depth for the upcoming season. Ole Miss begins its season on Feb. 5 with a doubleheader at Cal State Fullerton during the Easton Classic. The first games are scheduled for 7 p.m. Central Time.
