Ole Miss Softball Hosts Louisiana Tech in Homestand Opener

OXFORD, Miss. – The Ole Miss softball team is set to open a five-game homestand at the Ole Miss Softball Stadium on Wednesday night. The Rebels (19-11, 0-6 SEC) will host Louisiana Tech (17-10, 3-3 C-USA) at 5 p.m. CT. The game will be broadcast on the SEC Network, according to school officials.

Ole Miss aims to improve after a challenging start to SEC play. Louisiana Tech has won four straight games after a recent four-game sweep of Delaware. The Bulldogs are led offensively by redshirt junior Reagan Marchant and freshman Bradi Gallaway, who have combined for 14 home runs and 52 RBIs. Louisiana Tech’s senior pitcher Allie Floyd, with a 7-6 record and 2.50 ERA, is expected to start.

The Rebels, ranked among the top 100 in RPI, are led offensively by freshman Madi George, who is batting .420 with eight home runs, and sophomore Persy Llamas, hitting .404 with five homers. Llamas also ranks among the team leaders with 27 RBIs. Ole Miss’s defense has been a key factor, with a 12-2 record when no errors are committed.

Ole Miss has several key players earning national recognition. George was named the No. 11 utility player in the nation by Softball America. Llamas is ranked as the No. 12 first baseman, and Mackenzie Pickens is the No. 14 second baseman nationally. The team will continue its schedule with upcoming matchups against top-ranked opponents, including a series against No. 4 Oklahoma and No. 1 Tennessee.

Ole Miss will look to build on its recent successes and improve its SEC standing as it hosts Louisiana Tech and prepares for a busy stretch of conference and non-conference games, officials said.
