Ole Miss Pitcher Cade Townsend Named to College Baseball Foundation National Pitcher of the Year Watch List

Overland Park, Kansas — The College Baseball Foundation announced its 2026 Pitcher of the Year Watch List Wednesday, including Ole Miss right-hander Cade Townsend. He is one of 141 Division I pitchers on the list and one of 17 from the Southeastern Conference, the foundation said.

Townsend boasts a 0.48 earned run average after four starts, the second-lowest among SEC pitchers who qualify. He has allowed just one earned run this season, which came on a sacrifice fly in his first start against Nevada. Since that game on February 14, he has pitched 17 consecutive scoreless innings, the foundation reported.

The California native has struck out seven or more batters in each of his four starts this season, including a career-high nine in a combined shutout against Ohio State. He currently ranks fourth in K/9 (strikeouts per nine innings) at 15.43 and eighth in WHIP (walks and hits per inning pitched) at 0.75 in the SEC, according to the foundation.

Townsend is scheduled to make his next start Saturday against No. 2 Texas. The announcement credits him as one of the top pitchers nationally and highlights his impressive stats this season.

Ole Miss fans can follow the team and Townsend’s performances through the Rebel Rewards loyalty program and on social media platforms, including X, Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok. Head coach Mike Bianco also maintains an active presence on X.
