Ole Miss Men’s Tennis Sweeps Alabama for 16th Win of the Season
The University of Mississippi men’s tennis team secured a 7-0 victory over Alabama on Sunday afternoon at the Alabama Tennis Stadium in Tuscaloosa.
Ole Miss, ranked 27th nationally, moved to 16-6 overall and 4-6 in Southeastern Conference play. The Rebels took the doubles point with wins from Isac Stromberg and Kai Milburn, and Matthieu Chambonniere and Benjamin Martin.
In singles, Ole Miss dominated from the start. Vlado Jankanj was the first to finish, defeating Jacob Olar 6-1, 6-0. Senior Noah Schlagenhauf followed with a 6-4, 6-0 win over Yoshka Sborowsky. Freshman Pietro Pampanin clinched the match for Ole Miss by defeating No. 109 Andrii Zimnokh 6-2, 6-2 after winning the first set 6-2.
The remaining singles matches featured ranked wins by Stefano D’Agostino, who beat No. 79 Vit Kalina 6-2, 6-2, and Loan Lestir, who won two tiebreakers against Rohan Hazratwala 7-6 (7-5), 7-6 (7-3). Chambonniere also secured a ranked victory over No. 94 Matic Kriznik, 6-4, 6-7 (5-7), 10-6.
The Rebels are scheduled to host No. 3 Texas on Thursday at the Palmer Salloum Tennis Center in Oxford, Mississippi. First serve is set for 1 p.m.
