Ole Miss Men’s Tennis Prepares for Top-25 Matchups at Florida and South Carolina
The University of Mississippi men’s tennis team is set for a challenging weekend as they travel to face No. 22 Florida and No. 14 South Carolina. The Rebels aim to improve their SEC record after a recent victory over Vanderbilt, the highest-ranked opponent they have defeated since 2021, according to team sources.
Ole Miss, with a 14-3 overall record and a 2-3 mark in SEC play, will open the weekend Friday in Gainesville, Florida, against the Gators at 4 p.m. at the Alfred A. Ring Tennis Complex. Florida, with a 7-8 record, has secured wins over top-25 teams earlier this season but has lost its last three matches. The Gators boast four ranked singles players and two ranked doubles pairs.
Following their match at Florida, the Rebels will travel to Columbia, South Carolina, to face South Carolina on Sunday at noon. The Gamecocks, 10-3 overall and 3-2 in SEC, have defeated five top-25 opponents this season, including No. 10 Columbia and No. 18 Oklahoma. South Carolina features three singles players ranked in the top 100 and three doubles teams with national rankings, according to team statistics.
Ole Miss has been led by standout players such as Matthieu Chambonniere and Stefano D’Agostino, who recently earned SEC weekly honors. The team is aiming to extend its recent momentum and continue its strong conference performance.
