Ole Miss Men’s Tennis Extends Winning Streak to 12 with 6-1 Victory Over Belmont
OXFORD, Miss. — Ole Miss men’s tennis extended its undefeated streak to 12 matches after a 6-1 victory over Belmont on Sunday at the William F. Galtney Indoor Tennis Center. The Rebels overcame an early deficit after Belmont claimed the doubles point.
In singles, Noah Schlagenhauf sparked the comeback with a commanding 6-1, 6-0 win over Will Ecklund, tying the match at 1-1. Benjamin Martin then put Ole Miss ahead, defeating Bautista Durrels Rojo 6-0, 6-2. Stefano D’Agostino followed with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Charlie Robin, giving the Rebels a 3-1 lead.
Vlado Jankanj secured the match for Ole Miss with a 6-3, 6-2 victory against Austin Yack. The final two matches were played out, with Pietro Pampanin beating Stefan Vedovelli 6-4, 2-6, 6-4, and Matthieu Chambonniere clinching the win with a 7-6 (7-4), 7-5 victory over Sabi Roi.
The Rebels will next travel to College Station, Texas, to face Texas A&M on Saturday, Feb. 21, at the Mitchell Tennis Center. Ole Miss’s overall record now stands at 12-0 for the season.
