Ole Miss Men’s Tennis Defeats Tulane 6-1 to Remain Undefeated
OXFORD, Miss. — Ole Miss men’s tennis defeated Tulane 6-1 on Friday at the William F. Galtney Indoor Tennis Center. The Rebels improved to 5-0 this season, while the Green Wave fell to 1-1.
The Rebels started strong in doubles, with Matthieu Chambonniere and Benjamin Martin earning a 6-2 win over Tulane’s Asaf Fiedler and Andres Delgadillo, the only doubles victory for Ole Miss. On the other court, No. 11 Isac Stromberg and Kai Milburn lost a close tiebreak, 7-6 (7-4), to Daniel Phillips and Lance Nisbet.
In singles play, Pietro Pampanin opened with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Tulane’s Alec Gaudin on court three. Chambonniere beat Friedler in straight sets, 6-1, 6-4, to give Ole Miss a 2-1 lead. Benjamin Martin then defeated Steven Rice 6-1, 6-2, on court five.
Stromberg continued the Rebels’ winning streak with a 7-5, 6-0 victory over Lance Nisbet. Noah Schlagenhauf sealed the match with a 6-3, 6-3 win against Tulane’s Andres Delgadillo. Freshman Stefano D’agostino closed out the match with a 3-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-8) victory over Daniel Phillips, finishing with an ace.
