Ole Miss Men’s Tennis Defeats No. 22 Kentucky 4-3 on Senior Day

OXFORD, Miss. — Ole Miss men’s tennis concluded its regular season with a 4-3 victory over No. 22 Kentucky on Sunday afternoon at the Palmer/Salloum Outdoor Tennis Center. The match was decided on the final singles court after the Rebels overcame a 3-3 tie.

Ole Miss took the doubles point, with Stefano D’Agostino and Pietro Pampanin defeating Martin Breysach and Jaden Weekes, 6-4. Kentucky’s No. 16 pairing of Eli Stephenson and Jack Loutit responded with a 7-6 (7-4) win over Isac Stromberg and Kai Milburn. The Rebels clinched the doubles point when Matthieu Chambonniere and Benjamin Martin won 7-6 (7-4) against Charlelie Cosnet and Nicolas Arseneault.

In singles play, the Rebels surged ahead early with Vlado Jankanj earning a 6-0, 6-4 win over No. 97 Charlelie Cosnet and Noah Schlagenhauf defeating Mikael Arseneault, 6-2, 6-4. Kentucky responded with wins on the next three courts to tie the match at 3-3. The final singles match featured Pietro Pampanin and No. 78 Jack Loutit.

Pampanin lost the first set 3-6 but rallied to win the second 7-5. He then secured the match for Ole Miss with a 6-2 third-set victory. The win improves Ole Miss’s record to 18-8 overall and 6-8 in SEC play. The Rebels will compete in the SEC Tournament in College Station, Texas, starting Wednesday.

Ole Miss’s top performers included Pampanin, who delivered the clinching point, and Jankanj, who earned a ranked victory. The Rebels’ strong finish to the season positions them for postseason play as they prepare for the upcoming conference tournament.
